Privacy Policy
01 Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Infercia ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Infercia app, the Iris IELTS platform, and this website (the "Services"). We aim to collect only what we need to teach you English in your dialect and to keep the Services working.
This policy describes the Infercia app (with Amigo), the Iris IELTS platform, and this website. Keep it consistent with the data disclosures in your App Store and Google Play listings.
02 What we collect
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:
- Account information — such as your name, email address, and the dialect and language preferences you choose. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic identifiers from that sign-in.
- Learning content — your lessons, answers, messages to Amigo, IELTS practice submissions, and the text you write in the Services.
- Speech / audio — if you use speaking practice, we process the audio you record so it can be transcribed and assessed. The audio is transcribed and then discarded — we do not keep your voice recordings; we may retain the resulting text as part of your learning content.
- Progress & usage data — your streaks, scores, estimated level, and how you interact with features.
- Device & technical data — such as device type, operating system, app version, language, and basic diagnostics/crash data.
- Purchase data — your subscription status and history. Payments are processed by the App Store or Google Play; we do not receive or store your full card details.
- Support communications — messages you send us.
- Analytics & diagnostics — we use Google Firebase (including Google Analytics for Firebase and crash reporting) to understand usage and diagnose problems. This may include app-usage events, approximate/general location inferred from IP, and device identifiers, as described in Google's policies.
03 How we use it
We use your information to:
- Provide the Services — deliver lessons, tutoring, corrections, and IELTS feedback in your dialect;
- Personalise your learning and remember your progress across sessions;
- Process subscriptions and manage your account;
- Maintain, secure, debug, and improve the Services;
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support;
- Comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or abuse.
We do not use your personal learning content — your lessons, messages, submissions, or speech — to train our own AI models. We use it to provide and personalise the Services for you, as described above.
04 AI providers & your speech/text
Amigo and Iris are powered by artificial intelligence. To generate tutoring, conversation, and feedback, the text you submit — and, for speaking practice, the audio that is transcribed into text — may be sent to trusted third-party AI providers that process it on our behalf.
These providers currently include Google (Gemini models and speech services), OpenAI, and Anthropic (Claude). They process this data as our service providers to return results to you, and — under our agreements and their applicable terms — do not use it to train their models. Each provider's own privacy terms also apply to their processing.
06 How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, then delete or anonymise it, unless a longer period is required by law (for example, transaction records). When you delete your account, we remove your associated personal data within 30 days, including from routine backups as they are overwritten, as described in our account-deletion guide.
07 Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to certain uses. You can:
- Update your details in the app;
- Delete your account — see the account-deletion guide;
- Contact us at [email protected] to exercise any of these rights.
We will respond as required by applicable law (such as the GDPR or similar regimes). Where we rely on legal bases under such laws, they are typically the performance of our contract with you (providing the Services), your consent (for example for optional features), and our legitimate interests in securing and improving the Services.
08 Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — such as encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
09 Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data without appropriate consent, contact us and we'll take steps to delete it.
10 International transfers
Infercia is based in the United Arab Emirates, and our service providers — including the AI providers named above — operate in other countries, such as the United States. Your information may therefore be processed and stored outside the country you live in. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the providers' standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
11 Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email. Please review it periodically.
